Bageecha is the Gender and Queer Collective of Delhi School of Social Work, University of Delhi (formed in 2020). As the name suggests, the essence of this collective is to respect and encourage different genders, sexualities, perspectives and people. To create and engage in a gender-informed discourse with a special focus on the LGBTQ+ community. To help develop a self-aware, sensitive and proactive batch of social workers in DSSW - with full commitment towards an anti-oppressive approach.

The sensitisation on Queer issues and representation is important as the students may hold a variety of biases whether conscious or unconscious. Media often presents an indirect way to address such issues and not just people holding those views. As the stereotyping and prejudice is structural, in our societal instituions and widely held beliefs. The objective of this club is to advocate about queer issues like gender, sexuality, sexual orientation, intersectionality etc. through movie screening, to make people aware people and students of the college about the queer portrayal in media, to build a network with various queer collectives/queer groups and college students and to make a brave space for people to discuss myths, notions and thoughts openly on queer issues.
