Embarking on a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Social Work is a journey into the profound complexities of human experience and societal structures. This program is not merely an academic pursuit but a quest for deeper understanding and transformative change. At its core, the PhD in Social Work invites scholars to engage in critical reflection and innovative inquiry, addressing the intricate interplay between individuals, communities, and the systems that shape their lives.
Our program nurtures intellectual rigor and fosters a commitment to social justice, encouraging researchers to explore and challenge the underlying assumptions and power dynamics within social work practice. Through rigorous research and scholarly discourse, PhD candidates contribute to the evolution of knowledge and the development of effective interventions that resonate with the lived experiences of marginalized and vulnerable populations.
Our PhD program is a minimum 3 years long research-intensive program that carries a minimum coursework requirement of 12 Credits. A dissertation is the major component of the doctoral program and is evaluated by three external examiners of high standing followed by a public defence and viva voce.
