MA Program
Our Master of Arts (MA) in Social Work is a comprehensive two-year program offering 100 credits, designed in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020 and the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as outlined by the University Grants Commission, India. The program integrates rigorous academic coursework with a robust fieldwork practicum, which comprises over 36 credits. This hands-on component ensures that students gain practical experience and apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, adhering to international best practices in social work education. The MA in Social Work is internationally recognized and accredited by esteemed bodies such as Social Work England, UK, reflecting the program's commitment to high standards of social work education and practice. Our curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking, ethical practice, and innovative problem-solving skills, preparing graduates to address complex social issues and contribute effectively to the field of social work both locally and globally.

    Aims of the MA Program in Social Work (2 Years)
  1. Our program intends to impart education and training in professional social work practice and train prospective development practitioners, social policy analysts, and non-profit institution leaders.

  2. We aim to nourish and nurture change makers and provide them with the necessary knowledge base, transferable skills, values and humanistic attitude for practising with people and society.

  3. We strive to create an enabling learning environment where students can develop a fine balance of creativity, criticality and innovation along with learning the latest intellectual traditions in social sciences.

  4. We advocate for an interdisciplinary approach to learning, combining diverse disciplinary traditions with a transdisciplinary approach that integrates knowledge beyond classrooms.

Eligibility for Admission:

Applications (Excluding International) need to meet the following minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the MA Program
a) Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 year) in any discipline from a recognized national or international university. For the minimum qualifying percentage for admission, check with the latest Postgraduate Admission Brochure of the University of Delhi.
b) Candidates with a B.A. (Honours) in Social Work, or any Masters Degree from a recognised University
c) Candidates appearing in the final year examination for a Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply subject to the qualifications listed above.

Admission Procedure:

Attendance Requirement:
  1. The University of Delhi and the Department of Social Work have a strict minimum attendance requirement of 75%.
  2. Field Practicum attendance requirements are 90 per cent strictly, and no one will be allowed to appear for field work evaluation/final semester exams if they do not possess the 90 per cent attendance required for field work, scheduled by the Field Work Unit of the Department.
